Formula Explanation

Federal Tax = Gross Salary × (Federal Tax Rate / 100)

Multiply gross salary by federal tax rate (as a decimal) to calculate federal tax amount.

State Tax = Gross Salary × (State Tax Rate / 100)

Multiply gross salary by state tax rate (as a decimal) to calculate state tax amount.

Social Security = Gross Salary × 0.062

Social Security tax is typically 6.2% of gross salary up to the wage base limit.

Medicare = Gross Salary × 0.0145

Medicare tax is typically 1.45% of gross salary (additional 0.9% may apply to high earners).

Take-Home Pay = Gross Salary - All Deductions
